Version 1.7 of Enhanced Meta Widget is now released. No new features were added. The following changes/fixes were made.

  • I18n now works correctly.
  • All phrases have now been coded for I18n (I had missed a few the first go round).
  • Added option to display register link. Depends both on “anyone can register” in settings->general, and “show register link?” in this widget.
  • Changed directory structure to put language files in individual directories. Now the POT file is in the directory "lang" with all language files having their own directories below "lang". For example, the french(France) files are found in the wp-content/plugins/enahnced-meta-widget/lang/fr_FR directory.

Currently the only translation available is French (another big thanks to Daryan), but I’m hoping to have a few more translations soon; Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, German, and Danish are anticipated. If you would like to translate EMW to your language, please feel free to do so. All I ask is that you share the translation files to be included with the distribution.

As usual, the widget can be downloaded from the WordPress plugin repository, or updated automatically via the WordPress admin panel.

I have discovered in the past day that the internationalization of EMW is not working correctly. Daryan had kindly provided a French translation for EMW, but I’ve munged up the coding somehow and it’s not displaying for him. I am working with him to get this corrected and working the way it’s supposed to. In the process I hope to update the WordPress codex to clarify some of the information I have found there that has made this task difficult. I may even write a small tutorial on how to internationalize a widget, to help anyone who’s had the same problems.

In the meantime, if there’s anyone willing to translate EMW, I’ve typed a page (Translating EMW) on how to do so.

Version 1.6.1 of Enhanced Meta Widget is now released. No new features were added. The following changes/fixes were made.

  • Fixed translation string to allow different word order for the “username is logged in” phrase.
  • French translation is now included. (Thanks Daryan)

As usual, the widget can be downloaded from the WordPress plugin repository.

Version 1.6 of Enhanced Meta Widget is now released. No new features were added. The following changes/fixes were made.

Changes/Fixes:

  • Coded for I18n. Now just looking for translators.
  • As part of I18n, the POT file is included with each distribution.
  • Fixed bug where $after_widget was being displayed inappropriately. (Thanks Jose)
  • Fixed improper insertion of a couple of br tags.
  • Moved the display of “username is logged in.” to the bottom of the sidebar widget. I didn’t like it at the top.

As usual, the widget can be downloaded from the WordPress plugin repository.

Version 1.5 of Enhanced Meta Widget is now released. Some new features were added and a formatting error was fixed.

New Features Added:

  • Can choose to display login link or login form
  • Separated logout link from login link/form
  • Display “username is logged in.”

Additionally I fixed the display of the login form if it’s the only thing showing on the sidebar (now surrounded by $before_widget and $after_widget).

As usual, the widget can be downloaded from the WordPress plugin repository.

Versions 1.3 and 1.4 of the Enhanced Meta Widget is now released. Version 1.3 fixed a couple of spelling errors and a couple of errors with the html code, as well as the fact that the title would show for logged out users even if no links other than the log-in form were to be displayed.

Version 1.4 fixed a problem of too many line breaks between sections if certain links were not displayed. And the readme file was updated to reflect the fact that with the new 2.8 widget coding standards this widget is a multi-widget by default and can be used multiple times in the same sidebar or different sidebars.

As usual, the widget can be downloaded from the WordPress plugin repository.

Version 1.2 of the Enhanced Meta Widget is now released. I fixed the items in the to do list. And I think/hope that unless I find other errors or have recommendations for something new/different that this will be the last release.

As usual, the widget can be downloaded from the WordPress plugin repository.
